How do I sign up?
The first step would be to contact us and discuss any question you have regarding class and the registration process. We can then set you up with class times registration and uniform ordering.
Are these classes just for children?
No, Bushido-Ryu are for people of all ages. We welcome anyone from the age of 7 and up
How old does my child need to be to be signed up for Bushido?
Currently we are enrolling students from ages 7 and up
When can I promote to the next belt?
Belt testing is held monthly.
What gear do I need to bring to class?
In the beginning you will need a karate uniform, called a Gi. When you register we will get your information and order you one uniform. You will also be fitted for a belt, starting with white.
As you rise in rank items like a bo staff, tonfa, practice kama, sai and boken will be required.
Do I need to have previous knowledge in self defense?
No. We teach a beginner Bushido-Ryu class. Students at all levels are welcome.
What are the benefits of karate
No matter your age or skill level, Bushido is a discipline that will exercise the body and mind, improve balance, flexibility, endurance, and strength, and build self-confidence, focus, and safety skills.
Can parents observe class?
Absolutely yes, we will have a designated are for parents to sit and observe class.
How often should I attend class?
We hold 2 classes a week. We highly encourage attending both classes
What are the belt ranks?
White, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, red, brown, and black
I am/my child is not athletic, can we still preform Bushido-Ryu?
YES, Marital arts can be performed by anyone. Martial arts is a great place for those who do not excel at team sports as we focus on the speed/level of individual needs. During class there is no down time, so this is a great way to stay active and get moving.
What is open mat?
Open mat is on Saturday mornings, this is a time to allow our students to practice skills learned. You can ask Sensei or mentors for assistance honing skills
